Ham Radio License test dates

New NERT net frequency!

The weekly NERT net will take place as usual at 7:00pm on Wednesdays, on the 146.91 repeater frequency. After we conduct the normal net, we want all of the NERT hams to jump over to the 146.46 simplex frequency to test that out as a NERT specific frequency. Special thanks to Eric Swanson for meeting with us at our NERT hams face to face to help us get set on a simplex frequency that we can use specifically for Petaluma NERTs to talk to other NERTs in the event of an emergency - without clogging up any repeaters that may be used by ACS or other folks during a disaster.

Last Thursday (1-11-07), Eric Swanson conducted a tutoring session for seven of our recently licensed -Technician Class - HAMS. BTW, three of these NERT leaders - Wm. Jones, Herb Mitschan, & yours truly (Bill Hammerman) - took the "General Class" license exam on 1-13-07, and passed! To date, we have at least one licensed Amature Radio Operator (HAM) on nine of our neighborhood teams.
